10 Ways To Interact With Your Twitter Followers

I don’t have to tell you how big Twitter has become (estimated over 25million users). Twitter has a huge following and is used by athletes, celebrities, politicians, pornstars and everyday people. Twitter is a great way to connect with friends, make new friends and if your in business (adult industry specifically) connect with fans. Gaining more and more followers is what every wants to do, but let me tell you overall numbers don’t matter. That’s right, I said it, overall numbers don’t matter unless you’re interacting successfully with those followers. In a recent, non scientific study I took, most people are only interacting with less than 5% of their followers. This means the other 95% are being left in the cold. It only takes a little and I mean little interaction with a follower for that follower to be a loyal fan for life. A simple thank you, reply to one of their comments or a fan appreciation giveaway will often do the trick. Here’s a list of 10 ways you can interact with your Twitter followers. The list is in no particular order.

1. Respond to a followers question. If you’re not following all your followers then they won’t be able to DM (direct message) you. To see what questions your fans are asking do a simple search on your name and you’ll see what everyone is saying about you. Make sure to respond to the question. You only have 140 characters to work with so short responses are encouraged!

2. Ask a question for your followers to answer. This is also a good test to see how many of your followers are actually FOLLOWING you. Make sure to make the communication 360 degrees by saying thank you or responding back to their answers.

3. Don’t make all of your tweets links to your homepage or blog. Nobody likes to follow a tweeter that only tweets links. You look like a spammer and you don’t give an outlet for anyone to interact with you.

4. If you tweet links make them relevant. Before I said not to make all your tweets links, but I never said you can’t tweet links. If you tweet links make sure they are relevant to you or something your followers will find interesting.

5. When you reach a certain follower milestone do something for your followers (tweet a photo, give them a discounted price to your website, share a secret story, something, anything)

6. Send a DM to each of your new followers thanking them for following you. This shows a personal touch that you truly are thankful and that they’re not just another number.

7. If one of your followers or someone you’re following has something interesting to say “retweet” their tweet to your followers. This is a great way to make someone feel special by acknowledging that they tweeted something of relevance to you.

8. If you have been communicating back and forth with a new follower throughout the week then add them to your Follow Friday list. It not only shows that fan that you appreciate them, but it also shows your other (maybe dormant fans) that if they interact with you they may receive a Follow Friday from you as well.

9. Tweet at least once a day. Again, we’re only talking 140 characters here with equals about 30 seconds of work max. If your followers see that you’re not tweeting or haven’t tweeted in ages they will either unfollow you or stop paying attention to you. Not good!

10. Show some skin – we’re in the adult industry and that means skin! Everyone wants to see some skin and Twitter is a great way to do that. Show a little skin through one of the popular Twitter friendly photo sharing sites and you’ll have fans for life!
