Keep Track of Who Is and Who Isn’t Following You On Twitter

If you use Twitter than it’s inevitable that you’ve gone to bed and woken up the next day with less followers. It’s one of most annoying things about Twitter and it’s always a mystery who stopped following you. Twitter certainly doesn’t make it easy to find out. Thankfully there are a number of services out there that help do this for you. Here are a few services you can use:

QWITTER – Qwitter e-mails you when someone stops following you on Twitter. All you have to do is enter your username and email address and you’re done. Nice and simple.

SocialToo -SocialToo offers two separate services for tracking and automating process on Twitter. The first free service will automatically follow those that follow you on Twitter, automatically unfollow those that unfollow you on Twitter and unfollow everyone you’ve ever followed on Twitter (i guess this last one is if you’re having a really bad day). All automatic services are free for people that follow you from the time you enable the service forward. For retroactive automation you will need to purchase the services with a simple one-time fee. The second service will cost you a one-time fee of $20. You can track your new Twitter followers as well as those who stopped following you. SocialToo will send you a daily e-mail digest that lets you track new followers and lost followers (unfollowers), tweets you posted around the time of the new or lost relationship, specific information about each person and the ability to stop following or follow straight from the e-mail!

twitterless – Twitterless is a free service that offers a lot of great features. Twitterless will notify you when somebody stops following you and tell you who it is and your follower history is graphed out over time. Find out why you’re losing or gaining followers. Twitterless gives you a more descriptive view of your followers. You can filter them in real time by keywords in their descriptions or create searches for keywords in all your followers posts. Find out what your followers have to say about the stuff that interests you. See where your followers are on a Google map. Track your followers using up to the minute coordinates. Twitterless allows you to make your profile private. If you don’t want to receive notifications you can turn them off as well. Twitterless also provides mechanisms to auto-follow or auto-block users based on criteria you specify. Stop spammers and build your friends list without putting in any effort of your own. Last but not least Twitterless, just prepend the url in your browser’s address bar with the keyword* of your choice along with your message and hit enter to post it to Twitter. The url will be compacted automatically so you don’t have to worry about character limitations! To get an account on twitterless all you have to do is follow them @tless.

So there are three services that you can use to track your Twitter usage. Being that it’s the beginning of the year now is a good time to do a clean up of your account. Un-follow those people that haven’t tweeted in months or are not following you anymore. If there are any other services you use that aren’t listed above leave a comment with the name, URL and your take on the service you’re using.
