New Twitter Preview

The new version of Twitter is right around the corner from being released to the masses. Over the past couple weeks Twitter has slowly provided “previews” to users. Today was my day. At the top of my Twitter profile I was asked if I wanted to see a preview of the new version. Here is what the new version looks like (click on the image for a larger view)……

Right off the bat I can say I definitely don’t like the new version. I’m a Twitter web user so I’m use to the very simple and easy “basic” Twitter use and feel. I don’t use tweet deck or any other application to view/use Twitter. This new layout is overwhelming to me and it seems to put less emphasis on the actual tweets. I also hate that the background image is almost totally covered. Forget about all those cool custom Twitter backgrounds.

Knowing me, after using the new Twitter for some time there will be a point where I actual grow to like the new layout. For now though I’m really not a fan at all. I wonder if Twitter will give their users the option to use the existing GUI or if you’ll have no choice but to use the new upcoming version? We will see. What do you guys think of the new version?
