View Shortened URLs Before Clicking
Shortened URLs are all the rage these days. Shortened URLs are so popular that it’s not often you even see full URLs. The benefits of having shortened URLs are immense. They are definitely needed for sites such as Twitter and save real estate on other sites. Of course there is a major drawback with shortened URLs………..you have no idea where the URL will take you.
The majority of people that use shortening services do so in good faith, but of course there are predators out there. These predators will write text around the shortened URL to get you to think you are going to a certain website when in fact you’re being sent to another. So the question is, how can you test a shortened URL before actually clicking on it? Well, I have your answer….urlxray.com. The site is simple, you put the shortened URL in the display box, hit the x-ray button and then the actual URL of the link will display. You’ll no longer have to guess where that shortened URL is taking you.
