What’s the BUZZ all about?
It was only a matter of time until we had a new social networking site to add to the growing list. This time the social networking sites come from none other than the Goliath Google. Google has brought us everything from search to email to business apps to cell phones, why not a social networking site. You may or may not know that Google actually has one already, Orkut, but Orkut is really only used in Brazil. To help target the US market Google has come up with Google Buzz!
If you use gmail chances are you logged onto google today and before you were taken to your inbox you were taken to the Google Buzz homepage. Buzz is a “light” social network that allows you to do basic things such as update your status, attach photos, videos and more. As you might expect Buzz is tightly integrated with gmail. Once you allow Buzz to be active on your gmail account all your gmail contacts will automatically become your friends. So like it or not these will be your new friends. Before I give my opinion on Buzz I’ll have to do some testing of the system. Since Google has access to millions and millions of users they will be able to quickly gain a following on Buzz. The question will be, do they have a compelling enough social networking system that keep users coming back? Below you’ll find a short video on Buzz.
