Why Do Companies Use Twitter In Their Name?

Twitter has so many people obsessed that companies with some variation of Twitter in their name are popping up on a daily basis (Twitvid, tweetPhoto, etc). With everyone’s craze to jump on the bandwagon some companies aren’t thinking about the longevity and sustainability of their company name. What would happen if you named your site after Friendster or MySpace? Chances are you would be pretty unhappy right now. Who knows how long Twitter will be around 1,2,5,10 years or maybe forever. Chances are though with the way the web changes so frequently that a bigger and better Twitter will emerge in the next year or two. Those companies that have a variation of Twitter in their name will be left in the cold. Of course I have nothing wrong with these companies, and in fact I love what they’re doing, I just think they need to be careful about over using Twitter in their name. That’s just my opinion, I could be wrong.

people like to jump on bandwagons, you know that when Myspace got popular you had 1 million sites for myspace layouts generators etc. Eventually it will be another site and hey will become the trend.

Sometimes hopping on the bandwagon is a good thing. In this case I don’t think it is. Unless it’s a short term use. Which would not make sense cause if you’re a company, you want to grow. The more people stick with their own orinality the beter. Just my opinion.
